The Malaysia Makkal Sakti Party will make thorough preparations this year in mobilising some 97,000 of its members in the 13th general election, its president, Datuk R.S. Thanenthiran said Thursday.

He said party leaders at all levels would work hard to extend their assistance to the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in the election just like they did in the previous by-elections.

"Our whole vision this year will be to ensure BN wins two-thirds majority in the upcoming election.

"The Makkal Sakti members at grassroots level are now spreading messages on the various initiatives undertaken by BN to uplift the quality of living in the country."

The BN-friendly Makkal Sakti party, founded by Thanenthiran, was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in October 2009.

On another matter, Thanenthiran said the opposition pact was running out of issues when politicising issues which had already been answered by the prime minister.

"The opposition is seeking cheap political mileage in view of the looming general election by making unfounded claims on the various initiatives undertaken by the government.

Thanenthiran also said the support of the youngsters in the country was now inclining towards BN as many of them were seen attending the Karnival Sayangi Selangor (Love Selangor Carnival) held at i-City, here from Dec 29 until Jan 1.

"About 80 per cent of the 97,000 members in the party comprises youngsters between the age of 18 and 35 years and this showed they are now backing the ruling coalition," he said, adding that the party aimed to increase its membership by 150,000 by end of this year.
