KUALA LUMPUR:The failure of Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu to secure the support of the majority of votes in the Perak State Legislative Assembly on Friday gave a great blow to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

According to Pasir Pinji State Assemblyman (ADUN) Howard Lee, the result of the vote of no confidence in the Menteri Besar’s leadership proved that the ADUNs in the state government also rejected Ahmad Faizal.

"Not only did the opposition support the motion by the government assemblymen but to also control the motion at the end of the meeting rules. Two motions were proposed this morning from the Temenggor assemblyman (UMNO) and another by me.

"The motion was submitted to be voted in the assembly and has received the support of the majority.

“(What happened) today it is not only a great blow to Bersatu but a signal to PN (Perikatan Nasional)," he told Astro AWANI.

In fact, Howard explained, the situation in Perak was normal in the country's political arena, especially after the ‘Sheraton Move’ which saw PN govern the central and state governments.

Meanwhile, Howard confirmed that the vote of no confidence by Pakatan Harapan (PH) against the Perak Menteri Besar had been discussed before.

"At the PH level, this has been discussed and debated at length. The decision can be said to naturally reject confidence and show that we are not confident (with the leadership) of the current Menteri Besar," he added.
