Syarikat Umpan Jaya Sdn Bhd has been revealed as the contractor responsible for dumping approximately 250 tonnes of garbage along the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) in Taman Beringin, Kepong on Saturday.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib said, the contractor has since been terminated with Alam Flora Sdn Bhd chosen to manage the waste until a new contractor is appointed by April next year.
City Hall will also hand over the matter to the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry for stern action to be taken against Syarikat Umpan Jaya, he said.

As a temporary measure, all solid wastes from Kuala Lumpur will be sent to the Bukit Tagar Sanitary Landfill Centre in Hulu Selangor.

The current Taman Beringin Solid Waste Station will only resume operations on December 30 after the repairing works on the wastage crushing machine is completed.

The solid waste transfer operation at Taman Beringin was halted on Staurday after the crushing machine had malfunctioned, which lead to the dumping of the waste by the roadside, Ahmad Phesal said.

The indiscriminate disposal of garbage on the MRR2 caused traffic congestion for hours.

The “dumping ground” had only been cleared on Sunday.
