Schools are encouraged to organise cultural night to ensure arts and culture continue to be appreciated, especially by school students, said Deputy Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Maglin Dennis D'Cruz.

He said such an activity could promote the arts and culture of the multi-racial society in Malaysia.

"The arts and culture of a certain race is important and should be promoted," he said when opening the Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Vivekananda's Cultural Night here tonight.

He also expressed the need for elements on 1Malaysia be included in the programme to enhance inter-racial relations.
