The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah tonight attended a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) dinner to celebrate the 206th Police Day.

The dinner held at the Palace Of The Golden Horses Hotel was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and his wife Tengku Datin Seri Marsilla Tengku Abdullah as well as the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar.

In his speech to close the ceremony, Ismail called on Malaysians to pray for the safety of the security forces comprising PDRM and the Malaysian Armed Forces who were fighting in Lahad Datu as well as Sabah's east coast shores which have been identified as terrorist hideouts.

"Support in moments such this inspire us to continue our battle to defend the nation from terrorists who are trying to disrupt peace in the country," he said.

The 206th Police Day celebration on Monday will put forth the national police revolution from the time of the Malay sultanate to the making of a world standard community service.

Police Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the deeds and the establishment of the security forces who sacrificed for the nation including defending the country from the threats of communist.
