Kedahans have been urged to put aside their political beliefs and forget conflicts during the 13th general election (GE13) campaign and focus on developing the state.

Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Tun Mahathir said various polemics and split among society occurred because politics were extensively discussed by the people and mass media.

"Put aside politics so that we can foster unity regardless of political beliefs. Its time to extend the hand of friendship to unite people of various races so that the government can perform its duties as entrusted."
Speaking at a function to mark Barisan Nasional's (BN) election win in Alor Biak today, he said to bring Kedah on par with developed states requires the cooperation of all parties.

Mukhriz said since Kedah was left out of mainstream development for a long time, many things have to be done to achieve developed state status in line with the federal government's aspiration.

"To my friends in the opposition, come join hands in developing Kedah. Maybe some people think this is impossible but nothing is impossible if we really want a better future."
At the event, Mukhriz, who is also Ayer Hitam State Assemblyman apologised to all parties for his action during the general election campaign.

More than 5,000 people in Jerlun parliamentary particularly Ayer Hitam attended the event.
Present were Jerlun Member of Parliament Datuk Othman Aziz, Kota Siputeh State Assemblyman Datuk Abu Hasan Sarif and Mukhriz's wife, Datin Norzieta Zakaria.
