JOHOR BAHRU: Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) have launched their Johor state election manifestos - Ikhtiar BN Johor and Ikrar PN Demi Bangsa Johor, respectively.

BN's manifesto contains five pledges to the people of Johor covering economic growth; people's wellbeing; the youth of Johor; governance with integrity and political reforms.

PN, on the other hand, drafted an offer based on eight key thrusts covering integrity and corruption-free leadership; economic stability; priority in addressing the rising cost of living; concern for the people; social wellbeing; infrastructure efficiency; boosting tourism sector; and environmental sustainability.

Both coalitions are seen to focus on similar aspects such as employment opportunities; second generation of Felda; housing; the state economy and the people's wellbeing as well as managing natural disasters.

Political analyst from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Associate Professor, Dr Mohd Izani Mohd Zain, opined that the manifestos of both coalitions fulfilled the aspirations of the voters because they wanted improvements in life, especially in relation to the cost of living and employment.
