The Ministry of Health (MOH) is aware of concerns from many countries including Malaysia over the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, Health Director-General, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) and Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) had a positive impact on reducing the incidence of COVID-19 infections in the country.
Therefore, he said, the implementation would prepare the country to respond in the event of a second wave happening.
“So far, we have done our best. (However), to compensate for the economic sector, we allowed (almost the whole) economic sectors to operate again and we introduced the MCO on May 4.
"So, what we are seeing today is the result of the plan over the last 14 days," he said at a daily press conference here on Tuesday.
In addition, Dr Noor Hisham said, what is more important is that the MoH constantly encourages the public to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) established throughout the MCO and the CMCO.
