Part of a human skeleton, believed to be that of a man, aged between 20 to 30, was found by members of the public near the slaughter house of the Veterinary Department in Ayer Keroh, here, Wednesday.

Central Melaka Police chief ACP Shaikh Abdul Adzis Shaikh Abdullah said about 70 per cent of the human skeleton was discovered at 3.30 pm, comprising skull, rib and legs.

"We received information from the public and rushed to the scene, assisted by the police forensic unit and hospital forensic unit," he told reporters here Thursday.

He said the skeleton, believed to have been there for between one to three months, was found scattered in the area.

"We also found a piece of jeans and shirt. But it is not confirmed whether it has any relation to the skeleton. In the meantime, police have classified the case as sudden death," he said.
