Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein has denied rumours citing that he would step down from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's administration.

In a brief statement on his Twitter, Hishammuddin stressed that the speculation had been a ‘negative speculation’ by a slew of irresponsible quarters.

Hishammuddin had made the statement in a reply to one of his followers on Twitter who had openly sought the former's explanation on the rumour.

On Tuesday, rumour was rife about his resignation, thanks to several jottings by two political bloggers.

So rife that Hishammuddin was said to resign by Thursday, followed by another Cabinet minister.

This reaction followed a report stating that Prime Minister has issued ‘an ultimatum’ to Cabinet ministers at a Cabinet meeting he chaired, last Wednesday.

Najib, in a report by Utusan Malaysia quoting an undisclosed source had sought for the Cabinet ministers to unite in addressing issues pertaining the national debt-laden strategic development company (1MDB) or resign.

This was the second time Hishammuddin had voiced his reaction linked to his present position in the Cabinet via Twitter.
