Former Selangor Malay Customs, Islamic Affairs, Infrastructure and Public Amenities committee chairman Datuk Dr Hasan Mohamed Ali questioned the Selangor government's financial capability to take over the four water concessions.

Hasan alleged that Selangor does not have the financial capacity to take over Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (SYABAS), Konsortium Abbas Sdn Bhd and Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor (SPLASH) which is expected to be in the region of more than RM9 billion.

Hasan who is also the Persatuan Jalur Tiga (JATI) president said this during a forum 'Jom Tolak Pakatan' (Let's Reject the Opposition) organised by the Jom Tolak Pakatan secretariat and attended by Selangor Barisan Nasional deputy chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar in Kampung Medan, last night.

He asked why was the Selangor government very eager to take over the water management in Selangor because the water concessionaires, especially SYABAS, has the expertise to manage the water sector.

Meanwhile, Noh Omar questioned the state government's move to freeze the Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) of SYABAS which needs funds to replace broken and old pipes, so as to provide clean water to household in the state.
