GUA MUSANG: The government has allocated almost RM60 million for the construction of two permanent concrete bridges in Kampung Pemberian, Kuala Krai and Kampung Bertam Baru, here.

Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said this was part of the government's efforts to help rural communities manage their daily affairs.

"The two bridges cost almost RM30 million each, with the 240-metre long bridge in Kampung Pemberian opened to the public since October 2020.

"The bridge in Kampung Bertam Baru, meanwhile, is expected to be ready anytime soon and it will benefit over 5,000 villagers there," he said in his 2022 New Year message at an event organised by the South Kelantan Development Authority (KESEDAR) here today.

Mahdzir said in addition to shortening travel time, the bridges will act as an economic catalyst for the locals.
