An eight-year-old girl was believed to have been raped at a child care centre in Taman Desa Lang Indah, here, in early November.
The suspect was identified as a 17-year-old family member of the babysitter, believed to be responsible in caring for her since she was a baby.
According to sources, the girl had complained to her mother of pain in her private parts. She was later examined by a doctor who advised the family to lodge a police report.
Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong confirmed that a report had been lodged over the incident.
"We are investigating the matter under section 376 of the Penal Code," he told Astro AWANI, here, today.
