Four Malaysians involved in a boat tragedy the Han River in Da Nang, Vietnam yesterday are reported to be safe.

The Malaysian Foreign Ministry in a statement tonight confirmed that the four were among passengers in a boat that capsized in the Han River, about 850km from Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam at 8.30pm (local time) yesterday.

"The Malaysian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh has reported that the four have been identified and reported safe," said the statement.

According to Wisma Putra, three of the four identified as Leow Kim Hin, Pong Kee Juat and Ding Swee Yoke have returned to Malaysia while the fourth, identified as Ong Tah Fatt is receiving treatment in a hospital.

The Consulate will monitor the situation, said the statement.
