The Jalur Gemilang will be flown at half mast throughout the country on the Day of National Mourning on Friday.

This was stated by the Corporate Communications Unit of the Prime Minister's Department in a statement, Monday.

The Day of National Mourning was declared by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in conjunction with the arrival of the remains of victims in the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH17 tragedy aimed at expressing sadness of the Malaysian people over the tragedy.

The ceremony to receive the arrival of the remains would be held at the Bunga Raya Complex, KL International Airport in Sepang.

The MAS flight MH17, which carried 283 passengers and 15 crew members, was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, when it was believed to have been shot down in Ukraine on July 17.
