The first batch of 43 Malaysians in Sana’a, the capital of Yemen, is expected to arrive in Malaysia tomorrow morning.

Yaman Malaysian Students Association (Permaya) said the group would depart from Sana’a by Emirates Airlines today at 3am (local time) and expected to arrive at the KL International Airport (KLIA) at 8.55am Tuesday.

"The second batch of 20 Malaysians, including nine children, are expected to leave Sana’a at 8.30am today (local time) with the group divided into two when in Abu Dhabi on Qatar Airways flights, that are expected to arrive in KLIA at 8.50am tomorrow and 8.25am Wednesday.

"Alhamdulillah, the process of sending the Malaysian students back has run smoothly so far and thank you to the Malaysian embassy in Yemen for the cooperation," Permaya said in its status that was uploaded in Facebook.

As a precautionary measure, the Malaysian government had decided to bring back Malaysians stranded by the unrest in Yemen.

Wisma Putra, in a statement here, said the National Security Council and Foreign Ministry jointly with the Malaysian embassy in Sana'a were co-ordinating operations to bring back Malaysians there.

It said the government through the embassy had provided temporary accomodation to 449 Malaysians since Sept 19 and would continue to provide assistance to all Malaysians with the help of Permaya until they returned safely to the country.

The latest conflict in Yemen occured following conflicts between the Shiite Houthi movement and government forces that witnessed the rebels taking over several important institutions in the capital.
