PUTRAJAYA: In one corner of the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque here today, Fatma Saleem was busy distributing candies to those who were at the mosque to perform Aidilfitri prayers.

The Saudi Arabian woman, clad in a white blouse and pants, prepared mixed candies, consisting of lollipops, jellies and sweets in a basket, to be given as an act of joy and happiness.

"In my country, it is a tradition to give sweets on Eid al-Fitr (Aidilfitri) to family and guests. As I celebrate here in Malaysia, in the past few years I have nevered miss to give sweets on every Aidilfitri," she told Bernama here.

Fatma, who has been living in Serdang for 12 years with her husband, said this gesture makes her feel at home, adding that she is happy to receive messages of appreciation from the community.

Fatma, who just graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia in Serdang, said her favourite spots to distribute candies were the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque and the Putra Mosque here.
