KUALA LUMPUR:A 45-year-old father who has been raping his 15-year-old daughter every week since last February, has been detained.

The heinous crime was uncovered when the victim fled the house and went to the South Integrated Terminal (TBS) on November 1 before being detained by the police because she had no Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) travel permit.

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Farouk Eshak said the victim then said she wanted to return to Kuala Nerang, Kedah because she could not stand the actions of her biological father.

"Investigations found that the victim was raped continuously every week without anyone's knowledge.

"The suspect will rape the victim in the early morning while the rest of the family members are asleep.

"As a result of this act, the victim felt scared and had attempted suicide once by drinking floor cleaning fluid.

"The incident (suicide attempt) occurred in June 2020 and no police report was made," he said in a press conference here on Friday.

According to him, the suspect who is a businessman was arrested by police on November 2 at his house in Bukit Antarabangsa and remanded from November 2 to 6 for further investigation.

"A review of the records found that the suspect had a previous record of rape case investigated under Section 376A of the Penal Code (incest)," he said.

ACP Mohd Farouk added that the victim who is still in Form Four of a school in Ampang is the only child and her parents divorced in 2004 after she was born.

"Before this, the victim lived with her mother in Kuala Nerang. In September 2019, the biological father (suspect) was granted custody and took her to live together at Bukit Antarabangsa.

"She lives with her father, stepmother and four younger stepbrothers," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code, which is to commit rape incest and can be sentenced to 20 years in prison and whipping if convicted.
