A policeman spotted skull fragments at the site of an accident in the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE), which claimed the lives of a married couple and their baby in May, the Traffic Court here was told today.
The crash involved a Pajero and two MyVi, said Corporal Muhammad Khairul Ab Majid, adding that he also saw bloodstains on the body of a man at the scene of the accident.
"I saw skull fragments and bloodstains around the bodies but was not sure of the bloodstains in other places," he said during cross-examination by lawyer Omar Bakhi Ahmad who represented an accused, Siti Noor Aini Mohd Said.
He was speaking at the trial of two MyVi drivers, Siti Noor Aini, 36, and Mohammad Fizal Reza Jamauddin, 31, who were charged with dangerous driving and causing the death of Fairuz Nizam Husain, 35, wife, Nova Safitri Azhari, 27, and their six-month-old baby, Nur Firuza Annisa.
Siti Noor Aini and Mohammad Fizal Reza allegedly committed the offence at KM6 of the DUKE from Ulu Kelang towards Jalan Duta between 12.31am and 12.35am on May 2.
Muhammad Khairul, 32, attached to the traffic police station in Tun H. S. Lee is the sixth prosecution witness called to testify at the trial which entered the 10th day.
He said on May 2, he was assigned to the scene to control the traffic and identify the vehicles involved in the accident to provide information to the traffic operations room and bring the vehicles involved to the traffic police station yard in Kuala Lumpur.
He also had to take blood and urine samples of both the accused.
To a question from Omar Bakhi whether he saw a baby involved in the accident at the scene, he replied in the negative.
During cross-examination by counsel S. N. Seelan, representing Mohammad Fizal Reza, the policeman explained that the baby in question was not at the scene of the accident when he arrived.
However, he was informed by the public that the baby had been taken to the hospital.
Earlier, during examination by deputy public prosecutor Nadiah Malek Fauzi on what he saw at the scene, Muhammad Khairul said he saw a male victim on the road and a female victim being treated in a Civil Defence Department ambulance.
He said he also saw Mohammad Fizal Reza at the scene while Siti Noor Aini had been taken to the hospital.
The hearing before magistrate Zilfinaz Abbas continues tomorrow.
