Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) national committee member, Faiz Fadzil has regarded a statement by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Perak chairman, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak alleging Amanah not being grateful to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as immature.

Faiz, who is also the Permatang Pasir state assemblyman, said the Amanah leadership has always supported Anwar since they were still with Pas.

"Amanah has never forgotten the good deeds of Anwar Ibrahim. In fact, Amanah is a party led by former Pas leaders along with the late Fadzil Noor (former Pas president) in defending Anwar Ibrahim and leading the reform struggle.

"In fact, the establishment of PKR was the idea and effort of the late Fadzil Noor. From then on, the PAS leaders and current Amanah leaders continue to support Anwar Ibrahim that resulted in slander in PAS and ultimately got dispelled from Pas.

"It was Amanah MPs (members of Parliament) along with PH who suggested Anwar Ibrahim as the 8th PM when we were granted an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on February 26," he said in a statement.

However, Faiz stressed that the current situation was different because the decision to regain the administration in Putrajaya was important for good governance to be restored, economic recovery agenda continued, and for the struggle to defend the people and principles of integrity and justice upheld.

Faiz argued that in order for Pakatan Harapan (PH) to form the government again, the prime ministerial candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to garner support from more non-PH MPs as the number of PH MPs was only about 92 and not enough to form the government in accordance with Article 43 ( 2) (a) of The Federal Constitution.

"So, here arises the proposal for Tun Mahathir to be nominated as PM and Anwar Ibrahim as DPM because the support for Tun Mahathir is purportedly more than 112 if PH gives strong support," he added.

He also explained that supporting Dr Mahathir as Prime Minister does not mean that Amanah has forgotten Anwar.

Instead, he said proposing Anwar as deputy prime minister was the best move for the PKR president to gather more support from MPs and regain the people's confidence in PH.

According to Faiz, nominating Anwar as deputy prime minister would pave the way for Anwar to be elevated as prime minister more easily and smoothly.

"PH needs to decide quickly who the 9th PM candidate is. The decision on the PM candidate is important so that the PH and its members know the direction of PH in its quest to regain the federal government.

"This decision needs to be made together because the strength of PH is its ability to make consensus decisions together and this unity must continue," he said.

In a statement previously, Farhash Wafa had criticised Amanah and the DAP that he regarded was not grateful to Anwar for nominating Dr Mahathir as Prime Minister.
