Police had successfully re-arrested a detainee who escaped from custody at Paya Jaras, Sungai Buluh since December 7.

North Klang police chief ACP Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the 34-year-old suspect was detained around 1am, while hiding in a house in Kampung Seri Gombak Indah, Batu Cave, Selangor.

"Police also detained wo individuals who had helped the suspect to escape during an overnight operation which started at 10.00pm yesterday and ended at 5.30am in Kampung Paya Jaras, Sungai Buloh," he said to Astro AWANI on Saturday.

He said police also seized several item including two motorcycles, five mobile phones and clothing used by the suspect while in hiding.

During the 8pm incident on Dec 7, the detainee who was accompanied by an officer and three policemen was taken to Paya Jaras to search for another accomplice who is still at large.

The detainee who was allegedly involved more than 20 cases of theft and robbery around Klang Utara, Sungai Buloh and Damansara Damai escaped from a police van while under guard when the officers were searching for the accomplice at the home of the suspect's family.
