The Education Ministry will carry out physical audit on 13 matriculation colleges nationwide to identify damage and upgrade the facilities at the colleges for the comfort of the students.

Its deputy minister, Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi, said the ministry would send its officers to carry out detailed investigation on the damage and problems faced by the colleges for further action.

"Some of these matriculation colleges aged over 10 years and their facilities need to be improved and upgraded.

"For example, some of the building in those colleges have even suffered from fungus attack and cracks," he told reporters after visiting Melaka Matriculation College here Monday.

Mohd Puad said he had visited the Matriculation College in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Labuan so far, and had announced an initial allocation of RM1 million for each college to enable them to carry out repair and upgrading works.
