KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is now in stable condition and responding well to a follow-up treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN), said his daughter Datin Paduka Marina.

"Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been treated at IJN over the past two days, following a successful elective procedure that he underwent on Jan 8.

"Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and family ask for Malaysians to pray for Dr Mahathir's speedy and full recovery," she said in a statement today.

Prior to this, Dr Mahathir was admitted to IJN on Jan 7 and discharged on Jan 13 after undergoing an elective medical procedure on Jan 8.

Several media practitioners gathered outside IJN to follow developments on the health status of Dr Mahathir and it is understood that IJN would issue a statement on the matter.
