The DAP’s central executive committee (CEC) re-election is set to take place on Sept 29.

Confirming the matter, DAP, in a statement said the candidates list for the re-election would be the same as the list used in the 2012 National Congress last December.

“This is because there is no controversy over the list of nominated candidates and the ROS has instructed only the re-election of the CEC.

“Hence 17 delegates who were suspended or expelled by the Party after the 2012 National Congress are now qualified to take part in the 2013 National Special Congress, should they choose to take part in the election,” the statement read.

The statement also confirmed that the special congress steering committee will be led by Anthony Loke and Dr Ong Kian Ming will be the appointed returning officer for the election.

“The original schedule of the DAP parliamentary liaison committee AGM and state ordinary conventions which was supposed to be held between August to December 2013, shall be postponed until a new date is fixed after the new Central Executive Committee is constituted,” the statement read further.

On July 30, ROS director-general Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman ordered DAP to hold new CEC elections saying that he was not satisfied with the “technical glitch” explanation given.
