A police constable was allegedly stabbed by a man at a restaurant near Selayang Point condominium in Batu Caves here on Monday.

The 26-year-old constable from Bukit Aman Special Action Unit had suffered multiple stabbings, causing his stomach to rupture due to multiple direct blow of the machete.

According to a police statement, the squabbling between the victim and the suspect stemmed from a slight misunderstanding that eventually turned ugly.

The victim with three other friends were ordering food from an individual whom they mistook for a restaurant staff.

When their requests were ignored, a scuffle broke out between the police and the suspect.

The victim was currently receiving treatment at the Selayang Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

Police had detained and remanded two men, both 24, until Thursday to facilitate further investigation into the case.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using sharp object.
