KUALA LUMPUR:The Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, which is scheduled to expire on Sunday, has been extended for another 14 days, until December 20.

Senior Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, however, said that three districts in Selangor, namely Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor, will be under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) until December 20.

He explained that the CMCO in Putrajaya was terminated and has now returned to RMCO.

On Friday, Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah informed that Malaysia has recorded a total of 1,141 new COVID-19 infections in a period of 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 70,236.

According to him, out of the total, there were three imported cases reported, namely those who were infected from abroad.

Previously, Dr Noor Hisham said the increase in COVID-19 cases, especially in the Klang Valley, does not mean that the CMCO that was implemented has failed and was ineffective.

He explained that the number of cases recorded proved that active tracking and public health were running effectively.
