The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) will review a proposal to take stern action against individuals who bring the elderly and children to public places during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the proposal had been brought up and discussed at the National Security Council (MKN) meeting.
However, the MOH is still using the advisory approach to ensure that the group is not taken to the mall or hospital except for appointments.
“So, now we are advising but maybe we will take action under Act 342 (Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act 1988) which can be taken to court.
"So, for now we are only going to give advice but the action will follow later," he said at a daily press conference here on Friday.
Dr Noor Hisham was earlier asked whether MOH would consider including the prohibition on taking high-risk groups to public places in the standard operating procedure (SOP) for CMCO.
According to news reports, many people were still bringing children and senior citizens to public places.
