Local cartoonist, Zulkiflee Anwar Alhaque or better known as Zunar was arrested around 9pm Monday at his residence over a seditious remark on Twitter.

He was arrested under the Sedition Act 1948.

"Five police officers came ... they were here to detain Zunar and brought him to Dang Wangi.

"The three senior staff were very polite, and asked 'Abang ' to take his medications along with him. Abang was detained because of his Twitter," said Zunar’s wife, Faszt Alin Adan on her Facebook page.

Earlier, Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar in his Twitter account, had ordered the police to investigate Zunar for the alleged seditious tweeting.

Besides Zunar, Khalid also directed the police to investigate Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli under the Sedition Act for exacerbating the country's judicial system.

He has ordered the Police Cyber Investigation Response Centre (PCIRC) to investigate a tweet by Rafizi, on Tuesday afternoon.

A few hours earlier, he also issued Taiping MP, Nga Kor Ming from DAP to go under investigated the same act because alleged seditious comment on Twitter.

Every tweet were investigated under the Sedition Act over a remark pertaining to the Federal Court judgement in the sodomy appeal of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been sentenced to five years' jail for sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, seven years ago.

The Federal Court which upheld the Court of Appeal's sentence, had earlier convicted Anwar for sodomising Mohd Saiful.
