Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham said promotions made by the business sector is not an issue but crowding is a concern.

According to him, if the business sector wants to make any promotion to attract customers, it is highly encouraged but the public should comply with the SOP issued by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

"We strongly encourage promotion and economic activity but shoppers should practise social distancing, wear a mask and avoid being in a crowded area," he said at a COVID-19 daily press conference here on Tuesday.

At the same time, Dr Noor Hisham stressed that employers also play an important role in ensuring that businesses are conducted in a safe manner and compliant with the SOP.

He explained this when asked to comment on the business sector embarking on various promotions that caused congestion and crowding at the business premises.
