Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin today called on the Kinabatangan District Council (MDK) to begin collecting assessments to add revenue.

According to him, it was high time for MDK to implement the measure to extend development and meet the growing needs of the community in the area.

"MDK has been asked to discuss this seriously, and investigate the implications of its implementation.

"It is important, because district councils in any district cannot sustain or stand on their own feet to plan development programmes and services needed by the community (without the income)," he told reporters after witnessing the swearing in of MDK councillors here, today.

Bung Moktar, who is also chairman of Felcra, said at present, MDK's main income was through land cess. - BERNAMA
