A search operation resumed today for one more man still missing following the sinking of a boat at sea near here last Thursday that resulted in the death of six people and rescue of seven.

Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant director Mohd Sani Harul said the search team was looking for G. Shankar who was also in the boat that sank off the coast of Bagan Sungai Kajang when returning after the ritual of sprinkling the ashes of a dead relative in the sea.

The boat, carrying nine family members and five boatmen, had left the Sungai Kajang fishermen's jetty at about 3 pm and sprang a leak and sank as it was returning to shore two hours later.

The bodies of six people have been recovered so far, identified as A. Parianathan, 30, of Taman Aman, Sekinchan, Selangor, and A. Muniamah, 49; K. Logaraj, 29; M. Gnaswdree, 59; G. Jaya Sangari, 27, and M. Kunasegaran, 57, all from Sungai Buloh, Kuala Selangor.

Seven people were rescued by fishermen soon after the mishap, they being P. Alumalai; M. Sugamaran; V. Nagaswari; N. Sanmugan; C. Sabtayan; C. Sundraja and S. Partiven.
