A tailor lost all her belongings as well as dresses ordered by her clients for Hari Raya, in a fire that razed her shop and six more houses at Lorong Jalan Ikan Emas 22, Kampung Ampang Campuran, here on Wednesday.

The tailor known as Kak Nur, 53, said during the 10am incident, hundreds of dresses that were ordered by her clients and her personal belongings worth about RM30,000 went up in smoke.

"I and my son Asnul Faizal Muhd Nasir, 29, were packing dresses that were ready to be send to Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, when we heard a loud explosion near a factory and saw fire.

"I managed to grab some important documents before escaping," she told reporters at the scene, today.

According to Asnul, a plastics factory had started operations last month, near the squatter area where they have been living for 32 years.

"Our main source of income is through tailoring. We had seven sewing machines but unfortunately all were destroyed in the fire," he said.

Meanwhile, Lembah Jaya (Ampang) state assemblyman Khasim Abdul Aziz said the 42 members from seven families who lost their houses would be temporarily housed at Dewan Nusa Bakti, Ampang.

According to Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's operations deputy director Mohd Sani Harul, seven houses, a surau and a factory were destroyed in the fire while the cause of the fire was being investigated.
