About 8,000 apples will be provided for media personnel throughout the Umno general assembly 2012 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).

Putrade Property Management Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Maxson Abdullah Jaafar said the red and green apples would be provided during breakfast and tea time which was something new compared to the previous general assemblies.

He said it was also one way of encouraging a healthy lifestyle among media practitioners who were always busy covering news events.

"We are adopting the approach 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away'. But other fruits are also available," he said.

On the menu for the delegates, invited guests and media personnel throughout the five-day assembly beginning tomorrow, Maxson Abdullah said the menu would be as in the assembly last year as it was felt that the food served last year was the best.

He said preparation for the assembly had been made since May, with several changes and improvements made to the services provided.

In addition, he said, the management promised to ensure clean toilets for the convenience of the public.

Maxson Abdullah said there would be 219 booths for traders provided on Level 3 at the Dewan Tun Razak, PWTC, the same as last year.

The PWTC management recruited 600 temporary workers besides the 320 permanent staff to work in the kitchens and other sections for the assembly.
