The air quality in Seri Manjung worsened this morning as the area registered an unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) of 119 at 8 am compared with 81 at 5am.

According to the Department of Environment's website, the API reading in the area increased to 117 at around 7 am.

Only Seri Manjung registered unhealthy air quality this morning as compared to three areas yesterday, namely Muar, Bukit Rambai and Port Klang.

The air quality in the three areas had improved this morning with Muar recorded an API of 56, Bukit Rambai (92) and Port Klang (90), compared with 113, 115 and 104 recorded at 9 am yesterday.

Meanwhile, the air quality in S K Jalan Pegoh and Tanjung Malim was fast reaching the unhealthy level with API of 91 and 87 respectively, followed by Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Selangor at 86.

Thirty-three other areas registered moderate API readings, while 11 areas still have good air quality, including in Sabah, Sarawak and Johor.

Based on the air quality index, reading of between 0-50 is categorised as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy), and 300 and above hazardous.
