Three Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKTs) costing a total of RM20 million will be built in three districts in Johor this year, said MIC deputy president Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam.

Dr Subramaniam (pic) said the schools, to be built in Gelang Patah, Simpang Renggam and Kulaijaya, will be fully equipped with all necessary facilities just like national schools.

"The opening of these three SJKTs is made possible through the close cooperation between the Johor and federal governments with the federal government providing the funding while the state government provided the land," he said when organising a Ponggal festival organised by the Gelang Patah MIC division at the Taman Ungku Tun Aminah mini-stadium on Sunday.

He said the federal government was also providing an annual allocation of RM100 million for upgrading infrastructure in each SJKT in the country.

"This shows the government's concern on the development of the Indian community in the country, he said.

On other matters, he reminded the community not to be taken in by the promises made by the opposition as its partners would not be able to form a stable government in the event they won the upcoming general election because they had differing idealogies.
