The Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry will soon build 260 units under the People's Housing Scheme (PPR), at a cost of RM41 million, in Kamunting.

Its minister, Tan Sri Noh Omar said the construction of the houses was to allow those earning below RM3,000 to own homes.

"The project will be built on a 10.73-hectare land. Each of the 700 sq ft unit will come with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

"It will be completed in 2019 and the neighbourhood will be equipped with facilities such as kindergarten, surau, community hall and a playground," he told reporters after the launching ceremony of the national-level National Landscape Day in Taman Tasik Kamunting here today.

The ceremony was officiated by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir.

Noh added a total of 500 PPR units would also be built in Bagan Datoh this year. - BERNAMA
