WARNER BROS. has unleashed the first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's new film "Dunkirk", starring Tom Hardy and One Direction's Harry Styles.

The minute-long clip for the period drama – named after the French seaport of Dunkirk, where 330,000 Allied troops were evacuated in 1940 during World War II – gives an eerie glimpse into the horrors of war with the last shot showing soldiers on a boat ducking in panic as something unknown approaches them from the sky.

The film, which also stars Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and James D'Arcy, was produced by Nolan and his wife, Emma Thomas, and will be Nolan's first feature since 2014's "Interstellar" (via Variety).

"Dunkirk" is scheduled for release in theatres on July 21 2017.
