As of June 16, "Man of Steel" grossed $196.68 million worldwide after its first weekend in commercial theaters, reports Rentrak.

The new superhero blockbuster has come out in 25 territories and already reigns triumphant in North America, where it has raked in $125.08 million, or 63.6 percent of its global sales, since its release on Thursday night, June 13. With this showing, "Man of Steel" has broken the record set by "Toy Story 3" in 2010 for the most lucrative North American launch ever in the month of June.

Zack Snyder's blockbuster, starring Henry Cavill in the titular role, has left its rivals in the dust. "Fast & Furious 6" came in second place with a mere $29.43 million at the box office. "After Earth" followed in third with global receipts estimated at $27.75 million.
