Sarah Michelle Gellar's return to "Cruel Intentions" has been confirmed.

The US actress will be reprising her role as Kathryn Merteuil in a new NBC television adaptation of the cult movie. She announced the news on her Instagram account, posting a photo of herself with director Roger Kumble and executive producer Neal Moritz alongside a similar snap taken on the eve of production on the original film, which debuted 15 years ago.

"That's right 'everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way' #kathrynmerteuil is back!!! I am happy to say that I will be joining them (and @nbctv ) on the new #Crueltv," she wrote.

The revival of "Cruel Intentions" as a TV series will focus on an adult Merteuil's attempts to gain control of Valmont International. Roger Kumble is directing.
