Michael Bay broke the news himself on his blog (michaelbay.com): Megan Fox will take part in the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot. The film is set for release on May 16, 2014 in North American cinemas.

According to Variety, Fox will play April O'Neil, the human friend of the four turtles who have saved her life countless times. In the first TV series and subsequent films, April is a reporter who always follows up promising leads even if it means putting herself in harm's way.

Filming should begin in New York in spring.

This new film will be produced by Michael Bay and directed by Jonathan Liebesman ("Wrath of the Titans"). The four reptiles, who are martial arts experts and addicted to pizza, will be computer-generated, with real actors appearing alongside them. Motion capture will replace the costumes that were used in the three movies released between 1990 and 1993.

The screenplay was written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, co-scriptwriters on "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," which should make the characters created in 1984 more modern. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles rapidly became part of pop culture thanks to several animated TV series and various ranges of toys.
