Alcon Entertainment has announced that from next April, Johnny Depp will film two movies back to back: "Transcendence" and "Black Mass."

After several weeks of talks, it has been confirmed that Johnny Depp will take part in "Transcendence." This movie will be Wally Pfister's first foray into directing. Christopher Nolan's official head cameraman will start filming in April.

Alcon Entertainment was careful not to give away any plot details about the movie. The screenplay by Jack Paglen will supposedly recount the adventure of a scientist whose consciousness is transferred into a supercomputer. Actors including Rebecca Hall, Rooney Mara, Christian Bale and Ewan McGregor were linked to the movie last fall.

At the beginning of the summer, Johnny Depp will leave the fantasy behind and once again star in a criminal drama. The "Donnie Brasco" and "Public Enemies" star will play the lead in "Black Mass." Directed by Barry Levinson ("Rain Man"), the movie will look back on the life of Whitey Bulger, one of the main players in the Irish mob in Boston.
