The Syariah Lower Court Monday ordered rock singer-actor Awie to pay maintenance of RM4,000 per month for his two children who are now under the custody of his ex-wife, Rozana Misbun.

Judge Che Saupi Che Husin made the order based on the capability of Awie, who has a monthly income of RM40,000.

Che Saupi ordered that RM3,000 be paid for food, clothing, education and medical expenses while RM1,000 for residence cost of the children, Putra Ahmad Rezzki, eight, and Puteri Qasseh Antasha, six.

"The maintenance money must be deposited into the two children's account on or before the fifth day of each month with immediate effect.

"It has to be paid by the defendant starting today until there is a different order," he said.

The court also granted Rozana's claims on annual preparations for school, and Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Aidiladha for both children.

"But the court does not specify the amount to be paid for schooling because the cost will increase each year.

"Similarly, for preparing for the two festive celebrations, the court does not specify any amount to the defendant as it depends on the ability of the father of the children," Che Saupi said.

However, the court rejected Rozana's claims for maid payment and clothing expenses every three months for the children.

The claims were made under Section 73 of the Islamic Family Law (Federal Territory) Act 1984.

Rozana, 38, who is the younger sister of actress Haliza Misbun, was represented by counsel Mohd Nor Apandi Dahari while Awie, 48, whose real name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, by counsel Mohd Syafiq Norizan.

Rozana, had on Nov 5 last year, demanded for the two children's food and personal expenses of RM3,000, residence cost of RM1,500 and maid payment for the children.

She also wanted Awie to pay RM2,000 once every three months for clothing expenses, school expenses (RM1,500) and clothing during the festive season (RM3,000).

Rozana and Awie married in Songkhla, Thailand on June 20, 2005 but divorced in 2014. They have three children, Putra Ahmad Merrah, nine, Putra Ahmad Rezzki and Puteri Qasseh Antasha.

Putra Ahmad Merrah is under Awie's care.
