The Surabaya Zoo management has cautioned several local and foreign media not to monkey around with reports alleging that a zoo employee had sexually assaulted an orang utan, resulting in its impregnation.

Merdeka.com news portal had quoted Surabaya Zoo president/director, Aschta Boestani Tajuddin as saying the news reports published recently were found to be false and baseless.

He said no such incident had occurred and the zoo authorities were puzzled how a news portal could come out with such a story.

He added that the false report was initially disseminated by a foreign news portal, worldnewsdailyreport.com and the Surabaya Zoo management would lodge a report on the matter to the Press Council.

"It's all lies. The news is not true. It's impossible that such an act (sexual assault) had occurred at the Surabaya Zoo," said Aschta Boestani.

According to him, there was no orang utan named 'Marilyn' or zoo official named Akhiroel Yahya as stated in the report.
