At least two security personnel and two suicide bombers were killed in a suicide blast targeting a government building in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of Mohmand Agency on Wednesday, local media and officials said, according to China's Xinhua news agency.

Urdu TV channel Aaj reported that two security personnel were killed and three others injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the main gate of the local administration in Ghalanai town of Mohmand Agency, a semi-autonomous tribal area along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the mouthpiece of the Pakistani army, confirmed that forces foiled the attack by killing two bombers on the main gate of the government building.

The forces had received intelligence reports about the intrusion of suicide bombers from Afghanistan, the ISPR said.

"One suicide bomber blew himself up once spotted and challenged by security agencies at the gate of PA (political administration) office while the other was shot by the sentries at the gate," the statement added.

The forces kicked off a search operation in the area following the incident, the ISPR added. -- BERNAMA
