The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Indonesia has risen to 18,496, with another 30 deaths occurring within the last 24 hours.

Achmad Yurianto, the Indonesian government's spokesman on COVID-19 said, the death toll from the virus now stood at 1,221.

"From noon yesterday to noon today, there have been 486 new cases, while patients under surveillance for COVID-19 totaled 11,891," he said during his daily media conference broadcast on the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency's official YouTube page.

The Jakarta province has recorded the highest number of deaths so far with 470, followed by East Java (222), West Java (124), and Central Java (70), with the remaining number from other regions in the country.
