China's second largest mobile operator China Unicom's 3G subscribers have hit 76.46 million, following the addition of 3.13 million 3G subscribers in December last year.

However, its 2G subscribers dwindled by 36,000 in November to 163 million as at end-December, the Xinhua News Agency reported Saturday, quoting a report from the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Broadband Internet users totalled 93.87 million as of last year, it said.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology had announced that China's 3G users reached 220 million in November.

The ministry expects 3G subscribers to touch 100 million this year.
