The Economic Pulse survey by Ipsos Malaysia has highlighted that over 62 per cent of Malaysians agree the country's 2013 economic outlook is positive.

The quarterly survey by the independent market researcher, conducted among consumers across Peninsular Malaysia, pointed to a context of Malaysians who are relatively happy with the countrys overall economic performance and their own prospects for the future.

"Despite the 2008 global financial crisis impact, the survey indicated that generally, the Malay and Indian groups (67 per cent) as well as younger citizens aged between 25-34 (66 per cent), are the most likely to agree with this positive forecast," Ipsos Malaysia said in a statement.

It also said 68 per cent of the respondents stated they would continue to work, even if they had enough money to last them for life.

Ipsos Malaysia Managing Director Steve Murphy said the survey showed that Malaysians have felt some fall-out from the global economic meltdown back in 2008 in terms of their own financial situation.

"However, overall, there is a positive sentiment around the economy and Malaysias outlook for a strong financial performance this year," he added.
