Media reports of a possible merger between Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) and AirAsia X Bhd are unfounded and speculative, said Khazanah Nasional Bhd.
In a statement, Khazanah also reminded and urged all parties to not speculate on the restructuring of MAS, including potential mergers, de-listing and other restructuring options.
The government investment fund was referring to recent media reports on the restructuring of MAS.
"Comprehensive review of all restructuring options is being undertaken and evaluated," Khazanah said.
The resolution of this review, Khazanah said, would be made after due consideration, and after respective approvals from the relevant parties and authorities, including the approval of the special shareholder, Minister of Finance, Inc.
"The outcome will be announced in due course, within the time frame indicated previously," it said.
