Negeri Sembilan has recorded the third highest domestic tourist arrivals nationwide last year, thanks to the promotion and organisation of tourism products and programmes.
State Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Tun Hairudin Abu Bakar said statistics from the Department of Statistics show that domestic tourist arrivals to Negeri Sembilan rose to 6.1 million in 2015.
"Being in the top three position is great considering that Negeri Sembilan did not make the top five in 2014. It shows that all the tourism activities, programmes and products have shown positive result," he told reporters after the closing ceremony of Shemud 2016, here today.
Perak topped the domestic arrivals in 2015 with 7.96 million visitors.
Tun Hairudin said in an effort to improve Negeri Sembilan's ranking, various programmes have been organised including the one district, one tourism product.
"Districts have been directed to organise programmes with impact on tourism. Negeri Sembilan has 62 products of which some will be enhanced to draw tourists," he added. -- Bernama
