The fall in the value of the ringgit against the US dollar would not have any negative impact on the performance of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB).

Its President/Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman, said this was because PNB invested in the local market.

"As a fund manager, we balance our investments. We have various models to bring in the best returns to our unitholders," he said.

He said this to reporters today after the meeting of World Volunteer Programme here today.

Hamad Kama Piah said other than the domestic investment, PNB also has assets overseas, mostly buildings.

"This is the best opportunity for PNB to boost its profit if we sell the assets. We are studying the matter in detail," he said.

He said there was no need for investors to worry about their investments because the country's economy was strong although the value of the ringgit has fallen.
